The Industrial and Systems Engineering Department has 13 full-time faculty members and offers B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. level degrees. The department enrolls over 200 students. The College of Engineering, with over 1,600 students, has ABET accredited undergraduate programs in Architectural, Biological, Civil, Chemical, Electrical, Computer, Industrial, and Mechanical Engineering, as well as an accredited BS program in Computer Science. There is also a new BS program in Bioengineering. The College has Masters Degree programs in Civil, Chemical, Electrical, Industrial and Systems, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science and interdisciplinary Computational Science and Engineering. Doctoral programs in Electrical, Industrial and Systems, and Mechanical Engineering as well as an interdisciplinary Computational Science and Engineering are also offered. Additional information about the Department, the College and the University can be found at www.ncat.edu PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsibilities of the chair include the administration of the department’s instructional and research programs, budgetary management, faculty and staff development and mentoring, instruction, academic advising, program assessment and growth, building interdisciplinary and collaborative partnerships, strategic planning and implementation. As the academic leader and chief administrative officer of the Department, the Chair is a member of the College of Engineering leadership team and reports directly to the Dean of the College of Engineering. QUALIFICATIONS: An earned doctorate in Industrial Engineering or a related discipline and an established record of teaching, research and professional accomplishments are required. Experience in curriculum development and successful grant management and the qualifications for appointment at the rank of Full Professor are required. The successful candidate will be a highly capable leader who can work collaboratively within the department, across the College of Engineering and the University, a person who is committed to diversity and engagement, and communicates effectively with student, faculty, staff, administrators and external constituencies.
