Position:
Towson University invites applications for a tenure-track appointment in the Department of Biological Sciences starting fall 2013, pending approval of funding. Teaching responsibilities will include courses in microbiology and genetics, and the possibility of an upper-level elective and/or graduate-level course in the candidate’s area of specialization. 

Qualifications:
The successful applicant is expected to possess a strong commitment to excellence in teaching, to develop a productive research program involving both graduate and undergraduate students, and to pursue external funding to support his/her research program. Preference will be given to applicants with experience in molecular or genomic analysis of microbial populations.   Ph.D. is required, postdoctoral experience preferred.

TWO FACULTY POSITIONS IN STRUCTURAL ENGINEERING
CIVIL, CONSTRUCTION AND ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING IOWA STATE UNIVERSITY

The Department of Civil, Construction and Environmental Engineering (CCEE) (www.ccee.iastate.edu)
at Iowa State University invites applications for two tenure-track/tenured faculty positions in the
area of Structural Engineering at the assistant, associate or full professor level. Targeted areas
of interest include, but are not limited to, structural concrete; steel structures; structural
mechanics with emphasis on advanced computational modeling; earthquake, wind and/or other
structural hazard mitigation; wind energy; and improving reliability, resilience, and/or
sustainability of structures.

In addition to sustaining their own program in their specialty area, the new faculty members are
envisioned to complement current research and education excellence in the areas of bridge
engineering, seismic hazard mitigation, structural health monitoring and/or wind engineering.
Additional research collaboration opportunities may also be pursued through Iowa State’s Institute
for Transportation (www.intrans.iastate.edu) and the Center for Nondestructive Evaluation
(www.cnde.iastate.edu). The successful candidates will be expected to teach courses at both the
undergraduate and graduate levels; mentor graduate and undergraduate students; generate a scholarly
publication record; and participate in technical committees and outreach activities. These
candidates are also expected to have strong communication skills and contribute to the mission of
the department.

The CCEE Department offers B.S. degrees in civil engineering and construction engineering as well
as M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in civil engineering. ISU’s Civil Engineering graduate program ranks 20th
among public universities by US News
& World Report. The Department’s 37 full-time faculty members teach and mentor more than 1,050
undergraduate students and 140 graduate students.   The Department has structural facilities to
support large–scale testing and field
evaluation of structures and has externally funded research in excess of $11.2 million.

Candidates for this position must hold an undergraduate degree in civil engineering, or a closely
related engineering field, and a Ph.D. with an emphasis on structural engineering or a closely
related field. In addition, significant experience/accomplishments in a candidate’s area of
expertise are required for Associate Professor candidates. Full Professor candidates are required
to have national distinction and international recognition in structural engineering or a related
field and a substantial scholarly record in addition to the aforementioned requirements. Preferred
qualifications include professional experience in any area of structural engineering; instructional
experience in appropriate technical topics; experience with development of technical instructional
materials; a record of publication in related technical areas; and a record of managing or
obtaining contract research. Professional registration or licensing, or the ability to become
registered is also preferred.

The College of Engineering at the University of Oklahoma invites applications for a non-­‐tenure
track Assistant Professor of Engineering Practice faculty position. Applicants must possess an
earned doctorate in an engineering discipline, preferably in Mechanical Engineering. While this
position is primarily for teaching foundational engineering courses such as Statics, Dynamics, and
Thermodynamics, research in the areas of engineering education, scholarship of teaching and
learning, and professional development is expected. The successful candidate should have a proven
track record of teaching excellence and an interest in promoting experiential learning in the
foundational engineering courses. Also, the successful candidate would serve as creativity and
innovation catalyst both in courses and  extracurricular programs such as the competition teams
housed in the Exxon/Mobil Lawrence G. Rawl Engineering Practice Facility (REPF), including the
Sooner Racing (Formula SAE), AIAA Design-­‐Build-­‐Fly, and the Sooner Human Powered Vehicle
student teams. The position is a three-­‐year renewable term faculty position with the opportunity
to advance to the ranks of Associate and Full Professor of Engineering Practice.
