The Department of Bioengineering at the University of Pittsburgh Swanson School of Engineering (www.engineering.pitt.edu/bioengineering) invites applications from accomplished individuals with a PhD in bioengineering, quantitative biology, biophysics, or a closely related discipline.  This is a tenure-stream faculty position at the rank of assistant professor and the research focus areas include biomimetics, systems and synthetic biology, and the engineering of living systems.  The candidate should have experience in elucidating principles of living cellular systems or in applying technologies that apply those principles to integrate living cellular systems with engineered structures.  In addition, the candidate must be committed to contributing to high quality education of a diverse student body at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.

The Department of Bioengineering at the University of Pittsburgh’s Swanson School of Engineering (www.engineering.pitt.edu/bioengineering) invites applications for a tenured or tenure-stream faculty position, at the rank of assistant, associate or full professor, in the research area of neurotechnology.  This is a joint recruitment between the Department of Bioengineering and the Neurotechnology Center within our newly established Brain Institute.  A major aim of the Center is focused on basic science research and novel engineering that will be transferred directly to human subjects.  The neural engineering community in Pittsburgh has grown rapidly over the past decade and our faculty in this area are world-renowned.  We seek a candidate who will complement and add to our strengths.  Candidates with specialties and research interests in developing novel revolutionary technologies to interface with the nervous system at the tissue level (including, but not limited to electrical, optical, ultrasonic, and molecular modalities), implantable electronics, or robotics engineering that utilizes neural control are especially desired.
