The Department of Construction Science at Texas A&M University is conducting a search for new faculty at the tenure-track Assistant Professor level. The Department is seeking an outstanding candidate with the background necessary to be recognized as a world class researcher in one or more of the fields of Estimating, Scheduling, and Project Controls by the time the candidate would be considered for tenure at TAMU.
The Department of Construction Science is one of the largest programs of construction higher education in the world. The Construction Science program is housed in the College of Architecture. The College of Architecture, with nearly 2000 students, is the largest College of Architecture in the nation. In addition to Construction Science, the College has Departments of Architecture, Landscape Architecture & Urban Planning, and a new Department of Visualization. The College provides extraordinary opportunities for interdisciplinary research and teaching. Currently there is a faculty of twenty-five within the Construction Science program. Program enrollment is approximately 600 undergraduate students and 50 Master's students. The program has been continuously accredited by the American Council for Construction Education since 1978.
Job Description:
- Undertake research in one of the areas of Estimating, Scheduling, or Project Controls
- Preparation and submission of publications to Journals and Conferences related to the three research areas
- Supervise graduate students in the thesis program
- Teach the courses prescribed by the Head of Department, either graduate or undergraduate level
- Develop a teaching program supported by your research work that introduces our students to leading edge methods in Estimating, Scheduling, or Project Controls
- Innovate in the methods used to deliver the course work
- Undertake service work as agreed with the Head of Department and consistent with University policy
Degree Requirements:
- It is required that candidates for this position have completed and hold a Ph.D. in a construction related discipline. A terminal academic degree in a construction related discipline will be considered.
Preferred Experience
- Candidates preferably should have at least two years of construction industry experience.
Teaching Requirements
- It is required that the candidates can teach estimating, scheduling and project controls at the undergraduate and graduate level.
Faculty are normally full time, hired on nine-month contracts, with the opportunity for conducting research, continuing education, or industry internships in the summer months. Salaries are highly competitive and depend on the candidate's credentials.

This work has been funded by various federal agencies (e.g., NSF, FDA, NIH, NASA, DHS, and USDA), national laboratories, and industry partners.
Considerable intra- and inter-college collaborative research in human and animal health care is ongoing at KSU. Given the anticipated arrival of the National Bio and Agro-Defense Facility (NBAF) and ongoing research at the KSU Biosecurity Research Institute (BRI), significant potential also exists for interdisciplinary work related to disease and its epidemiological spread.
The candidate must be a recognized leader in a technical area related to human or animal health care and should have demonstrated commitment to both research and teaching. She or he should have an earned doctorate or equivalent in engineering, science, or a health-related field and offer credentials to support appointment as a Full Professor.
