Assistant Department Head - West Lafayette – Earth, Atmospheric, and Planetary Sciences Job Number:  1300928 Description   The successful candidate will serve as Assistant Department Head. Manage, coordinate, and/or oversee all departmental activities related to EAPS (Earth, Atmospheric, and Planetary Science) faculty, committees (dept., college, university level), alumni, visitors, professional society meetings/events, student recruiting, building operations  and college/university . Supervise departmental clerical, advising, and outreach staff. Participate on various departmental and college committees as requested or assigned. Collect and maintain metrics related to all department activities. Respond to requests for reports, survey responses, or data. Assist in the preparation/update of the department's strategic plan, annual report, and external review. Acquire, store, update and analyze department metrics. Qualifications   Required: Master's degree in Geosciences or closely related field. Three years of previous university management experience (academia or program). Academic administration, personnel supervision, program management, general education in earth sciences. Ability to interpret and implement University policies and procedures. Excellent communication (oral & written), strategic planning, performance metrics, problem-solving, analytical, organizational, event planning, project management and customer service skills. Ability to influence and build work relationships among a diverse workforce at all levels. Ability to foster a participative supervisory style that utilizes teamwork to successfully guide the work of others. Ability to multi-task and meet established deadlines. Computer and related software skills (i.e., word processing, creating and maintaining databases/spreadsheets, PowerPoint, web savvy etc.). Ability to lift and carry 10 pounds frequently and 20 pounds occasionally. Preferred: PhD in Geosciences or closely related area. Wichita State University’s College of Engineering invites applications for the Director of Engineering Technology.  This is an open-rank faculty position at Associate or full Professor level, starting Fall 2013.  Candidates with experience in Engineering Technology programs, teaching courses, and advising and recruiting students are encouraged to apply.  The Director of the Engineering Technology Program will be responsible for all activities related to the administration and coordination of the program including admitting and advising students, staffing the program, chairing the curriculum committee, preparing program accreditation, and acting as liaison to program constituents. This is a newly created program with tracks in four areas including mechatronics, renewable energy, and technology management. The director will report to the chair of the Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering Department. 

Applicants for this position must have a doctoral degree in engineering technology or any engineering discipline, three years experience in an engineering technology program, and five years of teaching experience. Preferred qualifications include demonstrated ability in developing curriculum and in implementing an academic program, demonstrated ability to recruit and coordinate multiple instructors, experience in advising, marketing and recruiting students, relevant industry experience, and research/scholarly activity.  Applicants must provide evidence of their eligibility for employment in the U.S.  Salary and rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Central State University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position in Computer Science at the Assistant Professor level beginning August 2013. 

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Perform duties pertaining to teaching, service, student advisement, and research as a faculty member in the Computer Science Program.

DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES AND PERCENTAGE OF TIME:

• Teach a wide variety of Computer Science courses (a minimum of twelve hours per semester (or twenty-four annually)) and involve senior undergraduates in related research to prepare students go to graduate school or go to job market.
• Participate in coordinated research activities and collaborations with other institutions at national and international levels.
• Participate in departmental, college, and university committees and other service activities to enhance the role and mission of the university.
• Show academic abilities to publish research work in peer-reviewed journals.

·         Maintain office hours and provide advisement for assigned students.

·         Assist in curriculum development, review, and textbook selection.

·         Maintain an active research program (in part by external funding)

·         Participate in professional development activities.

·         Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

• Excellent technical knowledge of computer hardware systems, operating systems, and network operating systems.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Teaching excellence in the following areas: Programming Languages, Data Structures, Operating Systems, Software Engineering, Database Management, and Web Programming.
• Familiarity with Internet browsers and protocols such as: http, ftp, telnet, etc.
• Excellent knowledge of parallel and high performance computing systems.

SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS:

• Education:  Ph. D. degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
• Experience: 3-5 years teaching experience at the university level is preferred. (Candidates with a minimum of 2 years successful postdoctoral or industrial experience are invited to apply.)
• Strong evidence of scholarship and research, particularly scholarly publications. Consideration will be given to such subsidiary evidence as direction of, or significant participation in research projects, participation in scholarly activities of learned societies, and professional consultative services.
• Ability to generate grant proposals for research, teaching, and services.
• The desirable candidate will demonstrate an interdisciplinary research orientation
• Dedication to ensuring excellence in curriculum delivery, development, and improvement.

The Department of Engineering Technology and Industrial Distribution (ETID) at Texas A&M University is accepting applications for non-tenure track faculty positions for year 2013-2014. The applicant should be capable of teaching courses in one or more of the following areas: logistics and supply chain management, purchasing, quality, finance, industrial sales and marketing, leadership, strategic relationships, and general industrial distribution. The applicant, if qualified, may also teach regular graduate courses and special topic seminars, as well as supervise graduate students in professional practicum experiences. Some positions may require professional service duties in addition to teaching.

Applicants should have a PhD degree in engineering, supply chain management, industrial sales, or a closely related field.
