The Department of Computer Science at the University of Dayton invites applications for the position of Tenure Track Assistant Professor starting August 16, 2014. We seek an expert committed to excellence in undergraduate and graduate education who also has a focus on research. The individual holding this position is expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses, advise students, and pursue an externally funded research program.

Required: ABD and nearing completion of Ph.D. in Computer Science or closely related area; potential for quality teaching and scholarly research; committed to excellence in undergraduate and graduate education with a focus on research.

Preferred: Ph.D. in Computer Science; research or professional experience in interactive media, virtual reality, or gaming.

Rochester Institute of Technology’s Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of assistant professor. Candidates with exceptional qualifications will be considered at the rank of associate professor. We are looking to build research strength in industrial engineering to complement and support our thrust areas of health systems engineering, sustainable engineering, and advanced manufacturing. Faculty responsibilities include teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, student advising (including Ph.D. students), conducting sponsored research, and providing service to the university community.

THE COLLEGE/ DEPARTMENT: 

The Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering is experiencing significant growth with several exciting new initiatives under development. The Brinkman Advanced Machine Tools Laboratory is a model for industry-academia partnerships that provide faculty and students with access to state-of-the-art advanced manufacturing capabilities. The Toyota Production Systems Lab mimics a “real world” assembly production facility and supports a wide variety of activities pertaining to lean manufacturing. The department has access to a UNIX-based cloud system that includes a large memory computer, parallel computing clusters, distributed computing resources, and high performance storage servers all connected via 10 Gigabit Ethernet. RIT Research Computing provides off-campus supercomputing resources for RIT researchers and collaborators, and to state-of-the-art optimization and data-mining software. As investments in infrastructure have grown, the department’s research expenditures have increased nearly 100% over the past five years. The department offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in Industrial and Systems Engineering, with additional degree options in Sustainable Engineering and Engineering Management.  Faculty are also actively engaged in the development of a new interdisciplinary engineering Ph.D. program with focus areas in Energy, Transportation, Health Care, and Communications. ·         PhD in Industrial Engineering or a closely related engineering field

·         Demonstrated potential for high quality teaching

·         A record of dissemination of scholarly research

Associate Professor Rank:

The Mechanical Engineering Department at the University of Idaho invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant/Associate/Full Professor in the areas of design and manufacturing. Candidates are sought whose research focuses on connecting modern design approaches with advanced manufacturing methods. The ideal candidate will have expertise in one or more of the following areas; design innovation, design optimization, design visualization, design for manufacturing, manufacturing automation, additive and/or other emerging manufacturing technologies. The successful candidate will be expected to establish a nationally competitive externally-funded research program and participate in interdisciplinary research efforts both inside and outside the College of Engineering. 

The Mechanical Engineering Department at the University of Idaho has a strong tradition of providing excellent instruction and mentoring to both undergraduate and graduate students. The engineering faculty takes pride in creating outstanding engineers that excel in both industrial and academic careers. Successful candidates will be expected to develop and teach undergraduate and graduate courses, mentor and advise undergraduate and graduate students, contribute to the senior capstone design course, assist in the assessment of ME courses, and participate in distance education through the UI’s Engineering Outreach program.

• a Ph.D. (preferred) in Mechanical Engineering, or closely related field;

• evidence of potential to acquire external funding;
• excellent written and verbal communication skills;
• and is a registered professional engineer (PE) or becomes registered within five years. 

Desirable qualifications include:

• university level teaching experience;
• outstanding research records and the potential to establish a successful research program in design for manufacturing and/or advanced manufacturing;
• evidence of successful grant procurement related to the candidate’s research interests and the potential to collaborate with other faculty in teaching and research;
• propensity for scholarship and the potential to be an excellent teacher both in the classroom and the laboratory, and have an interest in advising and mentoring undergraduate students;
• professional experience in engineering or related field;
• and an interest/motivation to teach undergraduate and graduate courses.
