Bioengineering (2 positions):

The newly established Department of Bioengineering in the School of Engineering
at Santa Clara University is enjoying a rapid expansion in its education and
research endeavors (http://www.scu.edu/engineering/bioengineering/). The
department has an undergraduate and graduate student body of over 200 students.
We are now searching for two new tenure-track faculty members at the rank of
assistant professor to join the department beginning academic year of 2015-16.

Candidates in all areas of bioengineering are welcome to apply, although we are
particularly interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates with
research and teaching interest and expertise in the areas of
Bio-instrumentation/Bio-device engineering, Biomechanics, and Cellular and
Molecular Engineering.


Computer Engineering (2 positions):

The Department (http://www.scu.edu/engineering/cse/) offers B.S., M.S. and Ph.D.
degrees in Computer Science and Engineering, with 16 full-time faculty, and a strong
pool of approximately 30 part-time adjunct faculty who instruct over 300
undergraduate majors, and about 500 part-time and full-time graduate students.
The School of Engineering maintains strong ties to local industry.

Applicants must hold a doctorate in computer science, computer engineering, or in
a closely related field with preferred specialization in the Web, security, networks,
user experience (UX), or machine learning although strong candidates in any field
will be considered. Applicants must have a strong commitment and ability to teach
at both the undergraduate and graduate levels and must have demonstrated a
strong potential for research in computing.


Mechanical Engineering:

The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Santa Clara University invites
application for a tenure-track, Assistant Professor opening in the area of SOLID
MECHANICS with a specialization in Computational Mechanics. The School of
Engineering is seeking an active individual who will contribute to the teacher-scholar
environment at Santa Clara.
The department (http://www.scu.edu/engineering/me/) offers B.S., M.S., and Ph.D.
degrees, with 9 full time tenure-track faculty and 4 lecturer positions, a strong pool
of adjunct faculty, approximately 260 undergraduate students, and 115 graduate
students.
Teaching areas could include materials, manufacturing, finite elements, structural
dynamics, fracture mechanics, elasticity, and computational techniques.
Development of new courses in emerging fields within the applicant’s discipline is
expected. Applicants must demonstrate the ability to develop a successful
independent research program involving both graduate and undergraduate
students and which leads to a strong record of publication. Applicants are
encouraged to consider synergies between their work and existing research
programs within the School of Engineering and/or Silicon Valley industries.

The Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering at the University of South Florida invites applications for two tenured or tenure-track faculty positions in the area of Transportation Systems at the levels of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor.   The positions are open to candidates with research expertise in any area of Transportation Systems.   Preferred areas of expertise include those that can attract strategic research funding, student interest, and graduate employment opportunities. These might include: smart and sustainable transportation systems; ITS and traffic operations; transportation safety; freight transportation and logistics;  autonomous and connected vehicles; transportation and land use; innovation in transportation infrastructure and design; transportation system performance; and big data analytics.

The selected candidate must possess the following: (1) An earned PhD in Civil Engineering or a field closely related to Transportation Systems; (2) An established record of excellence in scholarship, teaching, and externally funded research commensurate with the candidate’s level of experience; (3) The ability to attract a team of high-quality graduate research students; (4) The ability and desire to interact closely with the Center for Urban Transportation Research (CUTR); (5) The ability and desire to mentor and collaborate with a diverse multidisciplinary team of colleagues; and (6) A passion for enhancing a nationally recognized research and educational program in Transportation.

It is expected that the candidate will work closely with CUTR, a multidisciplinary research, training, and workforce development center based in the College of Engineering.  CUTR leads a Tier 1 University Research Center focusing on transit and livability, participates in the region UTC center, and is a partner in two other UTC centers.  More than 40 full-time research faculty members conduct $12-$14 million annually in transportation research contracts and grants for clients at the local, state, and national levels.  CUTR’s research faculty includes engineers, urban planners, economists, policy professionals, and others.

FACULTY POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT – Industrial & Systems Engineering and Mechanical Engineering

The Department of Industrial & Systems Engineering and the Department of Mechanical Engineering in the College of Engineering at the University of Washington invites outstanding faculty candidates to apply for up to two full-time tenure-track faculty positions (9-month service periods) with the possibility of joint appointments in the two departments. We are primarily focused on hires at the rank of Assistant Professor although individuals at senior ranks with exceptional credentials may be considered. We are interested in candidates with quantitative modeling and analysis backgrounds in the area of manufacturing and production systems such as automated processes, operational structures, data and machine learning, reliability, human factors and robotics. Individuals with research interests in other, emerging areas related to manufacturing may also be considered. This search is part of a cluster hire in advanced manufacturing which reflects the growth in the Pacific Northwest.

Applicants must have a PhD or foreign equivalent doctorate degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial & Systems Engineering, or related discipline by the date of appointment and excellent communication skills.  The successful applicant will be expected to provide innovative, high-quality teaching; engage in collaborative research efforts that help build on research focus areas by developing a vigorous, collaborative, funded research program; and contribute to the goals and missions of the departments, college, and university. Mathematical Optimization and Operations Research – Appointment at all levels (Posting No. TR0140122)

We particularly seek individuals whose research specialties include, but are not limited to, advanced manufacturing systems and technologies, big-data analytics, cybersecurity, bio-manufacturing, and renewable energy. The appointment is at the assistant professor level and begins in the 2015-2016 academic year.  This position requires a PhD degree with at least one degree in industrial engineering, or a closely-related discipline.
