Job Description:
Department of Biomedical Engineering at the Binghamton University, State University of New York (SUNY) invites applications for a full-time (academic year; 10 month) instructor position, with an expected start date of August 27, 2015.
Primary responsibilities include teaching 2-3 biomedical engineering courses per semester. In addition to teaching, faculty members are expected to engage in curriculum and course development activities with BME colleagues, as well as service to the school in the form of accreditation activities and other projects as required.

Requirements:

As part of the strategic plan for expanding biomedical and health science research in emerging fields, the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the Watson School, State University of New York (SUNY) at Binghamton invites applications for a tenure-track position at the level of Assistant Professor with an expected start date September 1, 2016. The Department of Biomedical Engineering and the Watson School are dedicated to the goal of building a diverse and inclusive teaching, research, and working environment. We are seeking biomedical engineers who have demonstrated exceptional potential in scholarship, ability to attract extramural research funding, and capability to teach both undergraduate and graduate levels of biomedical engineering courses. We seek applications from candidates in all areas of biomedical engineering. Specific areas of interest include advanced bio-manufacturing, biomaterials and organ-on-a-chips, immune engineering, biomedical instrumentation, biomedical devices, neuron science and engineering, human brain mapping and other emerging areas. The Gallogly College of Engineering at the University of Oklahoma is embarking on an exciting new era as a result of recently announced significant gifts to establish the Peggy and Charles Stephenson School of Biomedical Engineering (SBME), including a new undergraduate degree program. The new school combines current major research thrusts in biomedical imaging, nanomedicine, and neuroengineering, along with existing strengths in graduate degree programs developed under a Whittaker Special Opportunity Award: biomedical imaging; biomechanics; bioelectricity; bioinstrumentation; and molecular, cellular, and tissue engineering. The SBME also leverages long-standing collaborations with clinicians and researchers of the nearby University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, especially the Stephenson Cancer Center, as well as other researchers in the state. SBME will welcome the first undergraduate students in Fall 2016 and will occupy Gallogly Hall, a new building in the engineering quadrangle, scheduled for completion in Fall 2018.

The new baccalaureate degree builds on the Gallogly College commitment to experiential learning and a fifteen-year history of graduate education through the University of Oklahoma (OU) Biomedical Engineering Center. Accordingly, the curriculum will have a strong emphasis on laboratory-based courses. The SBME is hiring several faculty members over the next five years. With a target start date on or before August 2016, this invitation to apply is timely for active involvement in developing the lab course curricula and in planning and equipping the laboratory facilities. The successful candidate will be eligible for appointment as a renewable term Assistant Professor, although appointment at the rank of Associate Professor is negotiable, based on qualifications.

This position presents the opportunity to exercise passion for experiential engineering education as the new faculty member develops and deploys translational learning experiences that integrate the research strengths into a wide selection of required laboratory courses. Joining the Gallogly College also offers the opportunity to collaborate with the Sooner Engineering Education (SEED) Center for discipline-based educational research. Existing SBME faculty are active in the SEED Center learning community.

CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS
The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in a relevant field and demonstrated experience within an
ABET/EAC accredited biomedical engineering or bioengineering program, through attaining at least one degree (B.S., MS, Ph.D) therein. Laboratory instruction and/or curriculum development is highly desirable. Postdoctoral and/or industrial experience are beneficial.

The Department of Systems Science and Industrial Engineering (SSIE) in the Thomas J. Watson School of Engineering and Applied Science at Binghamton University (The State University of New York at Binghamton) invites applications for a faculty member, at the tenure-track Assistant Professor level, in Smart Energy starting in September 2016. The Watson School is dedicated to the goal of building a diverse and inclusive teaching, research, and working environment. The position involves teaching at all levels from undergraduate courses to advanced graduate courses, and establishing theoretical and applied research in the broad area of Smart Energy. Special attention will be given to candidates with research experience in stochastic modeling of smart grids, modeling and dynamic control for data centers, automation, or energy analytics.

The SSIE Department secures over 2.5 million dollars in research funding per year. Our faculty members work collaboratively with over 24 sponsors from industry and federal agencies. With an excellent and growing academic reputation, the SSIE Department is internationally renowned in the electronics manufacturing/electronics packaging arena. Another area of substantial growth is health systems, and our faculty works with several major healthcare organizations across the nation and abroad. The department is continuing significant expansion, with four additional faculty positions, including this position.

The department currently has eighteen faculty members and offers a BS degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISE), MEng degrees in IE and SE, and MS and PhD Degrees in both Systems Science and Industrial and Systems Engineering (or ISE). SSIE also offers a cutting edge executive health systems program in Manhattan. With about 235 undergraduate, 232 masters and 102 doctoral students, the department is growing in numbers and in its reputation.
