The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Stanford University (http://me.stanford.edu/) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty appointment at the junior level (Assistant or untenured Associate Professor) in the broad area of Biomechanical Engineering. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to, mechanobiology, cell mechanics, transport phenomena in biological systems, bio-inspired design, design and analysis of biodevices or bioinstrumentation, biomaterials, and modeling of physiological systems. In general, we give higher priority to the overall originality and promise of the candidate's work than to the area of specialization.

An earned doctorate, evidence of the ability to pursue a program of research, and a strong commitment to graduate and undergraduate teaching are required. Successful candidates will be expected to teach courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels and to build and lead a team of graduate students in Ph.D. research.
