The Department of Aerospace Engineering at Mississippi State University (MSU) invites applications for a tenuretrack faculty position at the assistant professor level. Appointment at the associate professor level is possible for an exceptionally qualified candidate. Applicants with expertise in the following areas of aerospace engineering are strongly encouraged to apply:

·    Atmospheric Flight Mechanics
·    Unmanned Aerial Vehicles
·    Aeroelasticity

A PhD in aerospace engineering or a closely related field is required. Recent graduates with exceptional credentials are encouraged to apply. Preferred qualifications include a record of achievement in teaching and research, or equivalent industrial experience, along with a commitment to excellence in education. The successful applicant will be expected to contribute to the multi-disciplinary research mission of the Raspet Flight Research Laboratory(http://www.raspet.msstate.edu). The expected starting date is August 16, 2013. Screening of applications will begin
on or immediately after January 15, 2013. The position will remain open until filled.

The Department of Aerospace Engineering (http://www.ae.msstate.edu) currently employs 12 tenure-track/tenured faculty members, and four full-time Instructors. With an enrollment of approximately 200 undergraduate and 40 graduate students, the department offers an ABET-accredited BS degree in aerospace engineering with concentrations in aeronautics and astronautics as well as an MS degree in aerospace engineering and a PhD degree in engineering with a concentration in aerospace engineering. The department has research strengths in computational fluid dynamics, computational structural mechanics, composite materials and structures, fracture mechanics, design optimization, and guidance, navigation, and control. Department faculty members are actively engaged in research at state-of-the-art research centers including the Center for Advanced Vehicular Systems (CAVS) and the Raspet Flight Research Laboratory.
