Applications and
nominations are invited for the Chair of the Department of Biochemistry and
Molecular Biology. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to
lead and expand a department that contributes to the research and educational
missions of the College of Science and Mathematics and the Boonshoft School of
Medicine.
Applicants should have a
Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent doctoral degree, qualify for a tenured appointment
as Associate or Full Professor, be a nationally recognized scientific leader in
an area that complements departmental strengths, and have a substantial record
of competitive research funding. Candidates must have excellent
interpersonal, communication, and administrative skills and a strong commitment
to research, education, and teaching.
Major research interests
in the department include cell signaling, molecular structure and function,
molecular genomics, and NMR-based metabolomics. The department houses the
Centers for Genomics Research and the Magnetic Resonance Laboratory, and it
plays an important role in the interdisciplinary Biomedical Sciences Ph.D.
Program. Opportunities exist for interactions with other basic science
and clinical departments and with a diversity of regional academic, health
care, and research institutions, including Wright Patterson Air Force Base.
A competitive start-up

provided. Departmental faculty are appointed in both the School and the
College, and tenure-line faculty are collective bargaining unit members
represented by AAUP.
