The Department of Industrial and
Systems Engineering (ISE) at RENSSELAER POLYTECHNIC INSTITUTE in Troy, NY
invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant or
Associate Professor level. We seek a passionate individual with
demonstrated potential to establish a strong externally funded research program
and contribute to the teaching excellence of core undergraduate and graduate
curriculum of the department. Candidates must possess an earned Ph.D. or
foreign degree equivalent in Industrial and Systems Engineering or a closely
related field.
The ISE department is in a period
of growth with several faculty openings anticipated in the next five years.
These positions are expected to complement and augment the existing strengths
in the modeling, simulation, analysis, and optimization of networked systems in
high impact domains, including infrastructure sustainability and resiliency,
advanced manufacturing enterprises, and data-driven decision systems. The
successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate
courses in both the Industrial Systems Engineering curriculum, develop and
maintain a robust program of externally sponsored research, and participate in
activities that are in service to the ISE Department, the School of Engineering
and Rensselaer. Particular consideration will be given to candidates with a
strong analytical background, and interest and experience in one or more
important application areas, including cyber-physical systems, human automation
interaction, supply chain management, healthcare analytics, and sustainability.
The ISE department
awards B.S. in Industrial and Management Engineering (IME), which was first
established in 1933, M.S./M.Eng. in Industrial and Management Engineering,
M.S./M.Eng. in Systems Engineering and Technology Management, and Ph.D. in
Decision Science and Engineering Systems (DSES). The Department is highly
interdisciplinary, with strong education and research connections with
Management, Computer Science, Math, Cognitive Science, and other engineering
disciplines. The Department has 11 faculty, 160 undergraduates and 14
Ph.D. students. ISE is one of the seven departments in the School of
Engineering, which has approximately 160 faculty, 3000 undergraduates, and 480
graduate students.
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute
is a private research university in Troy, New York, situated at the beautiful
confluence of the Hudson and Mohawk Rivers. Founded in 1824, it is the
oldest technological university in the English-speaking world. Troy is
part of the greater capital region of New York, which also includes Albany,
Schenectady, and Saratoga. It offers the convenience of a metropolis in a
tranquil and bucolic setting.
