The Department of Biomedical Engineering at Texas A&M University is projecting aggressive growth over the next two years and invites applications for full-time, tenure-track faculty positions at levels of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor and Full Professor. With its translational and entrepreneurial focus, the department seeks to advance its emphasis in regenerative medicine, biomedical diagnostics/theranostics, telemedicine/health, precision intervention and augmentation. The incoming candidates should demonstrate a translational approach to research and a commitment to education that is synergistically aligned with the department and the A&M system.
Texas A&M is located in the twin cities of Bryan and College Station, with a population of more than 175,000, and is conveniently located in a triangle formed by Dallas, Houston and Austin. With 390 tenured/tenure-track faculty members and more than 14,000 students, the Dwight Look College of Engineering is one of the largest engineering schools in the country. The college is ranked seventh in graduate studies and eighth in undergraduate programs among public institutions by U.S. News & World Report, with seven of the college’s 13 departments ranked in the Top 10. The Look College is ranked second in research expenditures by the American Society for Engineering Education.
The Department of Biomedical engineering has held ABET accreditation since 1977. The department offers B.S., M.S., M.E., M.E./M.B.A, Ph.D., D.E. and M.D./Ph.D. degrees. The faculty is internationally recognized for translational and entrepreneurial research efforts and is comprised of 20 core tenured and tenure-track faculty members, 16 jointly appointed tenure and tenure-track faculty members, three professors of practice and one professor emeritus. The student body is comprised of over 120 graduate and 420 undergraduate students, including six NSF-GRFP and six LSAMP-Bridge to Doctorate funded students. In the most recent U.S. News & World Report rankings, the graduate program in biomedical engineering ranks 17th among public institutions.
Applicants must have an earned Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. in biomedical engineering or a closely related engineering or science discipline. Mid-career candidates must have a proven ability to sustain an extramurally-funded and translationally-focused research program. In addition, senior candidates should possess proven leadership skills, and an established reputation as a scholar.
