The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology invites applications for a tenure-track position in Computer Science. The anticipated start date is the fall semester of 2011. A doctorate in Computer Science or a closely related field and a commitment to teaching is required. Preference will be given to individuals with an established record of excellence in teaching and research and an interest in architecture, robotics, networking, or embedded systems.

The successful applicant is expected to teach a wide range of undergraduate and graduate computer science courses, advise students, guide students in projects, and participate in scholarly activity. The typical teaching load is two courses per semester. While teaching is the most important part of this position, research is also expected. The department offers a B.S. degree in Computer Science that is ABET accredited along with a B.S. degree in Applied and Computational Mathematics. The department also administers an M.S. degree in Robotics and Intelligent Autonomous Systems. In addition, department faculty members are actively involved in a variety of
