The Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Wichita State University has multiple open tenure-eligible faculty positions at the assistant professor level in the following areas:
Electric Energy Systems. Wichita State is a member of the Power Systems Engineering Research Center (pserc.org) and has active research programs in electric energy sustainability, renewable energy and storage integration, and smart distribution systems. The department plans to expand these areas and add other areas to the program.
Information Security. The department has many research programs in the computer communications and networking area that include wireless communications, mobile computing, wireless sensor networks, and wide area network routing and switching. The department plans to complement some of these areas and/or traditional computer science areas like databases, algorithms, and operating systems by the addition of aspects of information security research.
Software Engineering. All areas of research in software engineering and related disciplines will be considered, including software modeling and analysis, design and reliability, testing and verification, and software management; particularly to ensure the development and operation of systems with predictable and improved cost, schedule, and quality.
Duties and responsibilities of all positions include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, advising undergraduate students, supervising MS and PhD students in their theses and dissertations, obtaining research funding, conducting an active research program, publishing the results of research, actively participating in professional societies, and service to the department, college and university. Wichita State University, with about 15,000 students, is located in Wichita, Kansas, the largest city in Kansas and the industrial center of the state.
