The Sam and Irene Black School of Business at Penn State Erie, The Behrend College is seeking qualified applicants for a tenure-track position with a focus on global supply chain management starting August 2012. A secondary interest in project management is desirable. Qualified candidates will be considered for appointment at the rank of assistant, associate, or full professor (Ph.D. or DBA required; ABDs considered at the instructor level). Exemplary candidates with an appropriate focus and qualifying for an appointment at the rank of full professor will be considered for one of the schools’ endowed positions in International Business and Entrepreneurship. A record of relevant industry experience is desirable. Both high-quality teaching and an active program of scholarship are expected.

The Black School of Business is accredited by AACSB International. It occupies a new $30 million facility, and its $20 million dollar endowment provides significant support for the School’s programs. The endowment helps fund undergraduate scholarships, graduate fellowships, library and information technology resources, outreach activities, four faculty chairs, as well as new programming initiatives.

Teaching responsibilities: Standard teaching load consists of the equivalent of 15 credits for the academic year and include undergraduate and graduate courses. This position may involve teaching in the School’s on-line Master of Project Management (MPM) and University’s inter-college on-line MBA program (iMBA) offered through Penn State’s World campus.

Research Support: Includes guaranteed summer research support, full access to major statistical packages and databases, as well as funded travel to professional meetings.

Salary: Negotiable and competitive with AACSB-accredited schools of business.
Location: Metropolitan Erie has a population of over 280,000. Erie, as well as Buffalo, Cleveland, and Pittsburgh – all within two hours by interstate highway – provide excellent consulting opportunities as well as recreational and cultural activities. Housing costs in Erie are modest. Employment offer includes funds for moving expenses.
