The University of Alabama Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) invites applications for multiple tenure‐track faculty positions at the Assistant/Associate Professor levels. The department has research foci in electromechanical systems, embedded systems, and devices/materials. Applicants in all areas will be considered, but emphasis will be placed on the electromechanical and embedded systems areas. We are particularly interested in candidates that can contribute to research efforts including but not limited to:

• Electromechanical devices, including motor/generator design • Renewable energy applications • Power system analysis, operation, and control • Power electronics • Electric and hybrid‐electric vehicle technologies • RF Electronics • Wireless sensor networks • Biomedical signal processing and pattern recognition • Ambient and wearable embedded systems • Real‐time signal and image processing

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in electrical or computer engineering or a closely related field by the date of appointment. Applicants must show the potential to establish a quality research program, collaborate effectively with other faculty, and excel in teaching at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. For consideration at the Associate or Full Professor level, applicants must demonstrate a strong external funding and publication record commensurate with this level of appointment.

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering currently serves approximately 400 undergraduate and graduate students.

The department offers B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees, with ABET‐accredited programs in both electrical engineering and computer engineering. ECE faculty are currently active in multidisciplinary research with faculty from several other disciplines. The department will benefit from a major facilities improvement project involving a new science and engineering complex that is currently under construction on campus.
