Ohio State University - Department of Integrated Systems - Senior-Level Tenure Track Associate or Full Professor

INSTITUTION: Ohio State University
DEPARTMENT: Department of Integrated Systems
POSITION: Senior-Level Tenure Track Position (Associate or Full Professor)

NOTES:

The Department of Integrated Systems (ISE) at The Ohio State University, one of the nationʼs top ten public universities, invites applications for a senior-level tenure-track position focusing on data analytics, data mining and data-driven optimization (Associate or Full Professor). ISE offers degrees (BS, MS and Ph.D.) in Industrial and Systems Engineering.

This position is partially funded by Ohio State's Discovery Themes Initiative, a significant faculty hiring investment in key thematic areas in which the university can build on its culture of academic collaboration to make a global impact. It builds upon the departmentʼs long history of leadership in operations research and engineering statistics. The position is part of a University-wide initiative in Data Analytics, created in recognition of the fact that traditional approaches to decision making under uncertainty are inadequate when confronted with access to massive amounts of data, especially when such data becomes available over time. These challenges require core research focusing on domain-independent modeling, data mining, simulation, data-driven optimization and decision making techniques that provide coherent solutions across a wide variety of application domains, as well as a focus on the challenges offered by specific application areas.

The successful applicant will provide leadership by creating interdisciplinary research teams, bringing together faculty within ISE and across the University with a focus on data analytics, data-driven optimization, computer science and statistics. This will include a focus on specific application areas in order to develop new programs of research that have a tangible impact on the data analytics community. The faculty member will be expected to seek research funding from federal, state and industry sources, supervise graduate student research, and disseminate research results through high quality peer-reviewed publications. The faculty member will also expand course offerings in data analytics, data-driven optimization, systems modeling and data mining, at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Interested candidates should submit a complete curriculum vitae, a separate statement of current and future research interests, a statement of teaching philosophy, and contact information for five references electronically, to the following email address: freitas.6@osu.edu. The search committee will start reviewing new applications for this position on October 1, 2015. The position will remain open until it is filled.
