The U.S. Coast Guard Academy, located in New London, Connecticut, invites applications for two full-time, tenure-track, ten-month faculty position in Electrical Engineering for the academic year beginning 1 August 2011.
The successful candidate will teach classes in Electrical Engineering. This position will be filled at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor level depending on the qualifications of the candidate and according to the needs of the program. Applicants should be committed to outstanding undergraduate teaching leading to the degree of Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. Successful candidates will also supervise senior capstone design projects and independent research projects in technical areas typically aligned with United States Coast Guard and Department of Homeland Security mission areas.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
Candidates should possess a Ph.D. in a discipline closely related to the field of Electrical Engineering, preferably from an ABET-accredited program. Candidates should have undergraduate teaching experience, preferably full time in an ABET-accredited program, and have excellent written and oral communication skills. Professional experience of candidates will also be considered. Preferred areas of engineering/teaching expertise include Electromagnetic Theory and Antennas, Computer Networking, Electronic Navigation, and Signal Processing and Communications. Tenure-track position responsibilities also include scholarship, participation in leadership and professional development activities with students outside of class, academic advising, and service to the Academy. Excellent interpersonal, teaching, and communications skills are essential. Please describe experience you've had, if any, in the classroom teaching and mentoring diverse student populations, and/or promoting diversity initiatives, including efforts at creating communities of inclusion. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications. An ability to obtain a security clearance is also desired. Some citizenship restrictions may apply.
