The Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Idaho invites applications for two tenure-track faculty positions at the Assistant Professor level. We are seeking candidates that have research expertise in (1) computational methods in areas that include mechanics, kinematics, machine design and structural optimization (announcement #10000069605); and (2) computational fluid dynamics or computational heat transfer as applied to thermal energy systems(announcement #:10000064810).
Successful candidates will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses, establish an externally funded research program, advise undergraduate and graduate students, assist in the assessment of ME courses and participate in distance education through the UI’s Engineering Outreach program. Ideal candidates will be able to participate in interdisciplinary research efforts both inside and outside the College of Engineering.
Minimum qualifications include: a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, or closely related field; evidence of successfully teaching college-level courses; evidence of an active research agenda; evidence of potential to acquire external research funding; excellent written and verbal communication skills; and hold a professional engineering license or become a registered PE within three years.
