The College of Engineering at The University of Texas at Arlington (UT Arlington) seeks nominations and applications for the Industrial & Manufacturing Systems Engineering (IMSE) Department Chair position. Candidates should possess excellent leadership and interpersonal skills and have a strong record of scholarship and teaching commensurate with appointment as Professor.  A Ph.D. degree in Industrial Engineering or a closely related area is required.  The Chair will provide vision and leadership for the IMSE Department to achieve world class research excellence while continuing the tradition of its high quality teaching programs. The Chair will enable the IMSE department to significantly increase its research funding and endowments in order to address national and international challenges, including fostering collaborations with industry, government groups, and within the university and with other universities.

UT Arlington is part of the University of Texas System and offers more than 180 degree programs across 12 different schools and colleges. UT Arlington has approximately 33,000 students and is the 6th fastest growing university in the United States. The College of Engineering provides one of the most comprehensive engineering programs in the nation, with 9 baccalaureate,13 master's, and 9 doctoral programs and is helping to propel UT Arlington toward its goal of becoming a national research university.

The IMSE Department consists of a diverse, talented, and collaborative faculty of 13 members and about 300 students (http://www.uta.edu/ie/). The IMSE Department offers B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in Industrial Engineering, an M.S. in Engineering Management, an M.S. in Logistics, and an M.S. in Systems Engineering.

Areas of current faculty research include manufacturing, operations research, systems engineering, human factors, statistics and logistics in application areas such as healthcare, sustainability, energy, transportation, and defense. The IMSE Department houses the Center on Stochastic Modeling, Optimization, & Statistics (http://www.uta.edu/cosmos/), the Systems Engineering Research Center (http://www.uta.edu/serc/), the RFID and Auto Identification Lab (http://www.uta.edu/rfid/), and the Micro Fabrication Lab (http://www.uta.edu/ie/labs/micro_fab.html). In addition, collaborations are encouraged with UT Arlington’s Texas Manufacturing Assistance Center (http://www.tmac.org/), UT Arlington Research Institute (http://www.uta.edu/utari/), and Center for Innovation at Arlington (http://thecenterforinnovation.org/).
UT Arlington is located in the center of the Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington Metroplex, a major industrial center with ties to the aerospace, manufacturing, telecommunications, electronics, logistics, transportation, energy, and healthcare industries, plus numerous other areas. The City of Arlington is a thriving community with convenient access to the entertainment, recreational, and cultural activities offered by a major metropolitan area.
