Job Description:
As part of the strategic plan for expanding biomedical and health science research in emerging fields, the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the Watson School, State University of New York (SUNY) at Binghamton invites applications for a tenure-track position at the level of Assistant Professor with an expected start date September 1, 2016. The Department of Biomedical Engineering and the Watson School are dedicated to the goal of building a diverse and inclusive teaching, research, and working environment. We are seeking biomedical engineers who have demonstrated exceptional potential in scholarship, ability to attract extramural research funding, and capability to teach both undergraduate and graduate levels of biomedical engineering courses. We seek applications from candidates in all areas of biomedical engineering. Specific areas of interest include advanced bio-manufacturing, biomaterials and organ-on-a-chips, immune engineering, biomedical instrumentation, biomedical devices, neuron science and engineering, human brain mapping and other emerging areas. Candidates with a demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusiveness are preferred.
The candidate will be expected to lead efforts to broaden the university's Road Map Initiative in the Transdisciplinary Area of Excellence in Health Science http://www.binghamton.edu/tae/health-sciences/. The candidate will also have an opportunity to contribute to the buildup of the new School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. The Department is particularly strong in advanced bio-manufacturing, tissue engineering and regenerative medicine, nanomedicine, cardiovascular engineering, biomaterials, organ-on-a-chips, and biomechanics. Requirements:
