Founded in 1970, the department offers a bachelor of science, a master of science in industrial engineering, and a doctor of philosophy in engineering. The department also offers a master of science in industrial engineering via distance education. The department has a history of outstanding scholarship with recent funding from NSF, USDA, General Motors, AFOSR, ONR, XSEDE, and the National Research Council. The Department of Industrial Engineering has numerous laboratory facilities, including manufacturing, rapid prototyping, and stochastic processes.
