Binghamton University - Systems Science and Industrial Engineering - Tenure Track Assistant Professors and Visiting Assistant Professor

INSTITUTION: Binghamton University
DEPARTMENT: Systems Science and Industrial Engineering
POSITION: Tenure Track Assistant Professors and Visiting Assisting Professor
NOTES:

The Department of Systems Science and Industrial Engineering (SSIE) in the Thomas J. Watson School of Engineering and Applied Science at Binghamton University (State University of New York) is expanding further and seeks four (4) faculty positions starting in Fall 2016:
  • Assistant Professor (tenure-track) – Healthcare Systems Engineering
  • Assistant Professor (tenure-track) – Smart Energy
  • Assistant Professor (tenure-track) – Data Science/Big Data Analytics
  • Visiting Assistant Professor (non-tenure track) – Industrial and Systems Engineering
The tenure-track Assistant Professor positions require research that complements the Binghamton University Transdisciplinary Areas of Excellence (TAEs: http://www.binghamton.edu/tae/). These positions involve establishing externally funded theoretical and applied research in the respective disciplines as well as teaching at all levels (undergraduate courses through advanced graduate courses). A reduced teaching load is granted during the first 2-3 years. The non-tenure track Visiting Assistant Professor position involves teaching 4-6 courses during the academic year as well as advising and providing research guidance to a diverse and growing population of graduate students.

The ideal candidates must have (i) an earned doctorate in industrial engineering or a related field, (ii) excellent leadership skills, and (iii) superb records of research, including garnering funding and scholarly publications. Teaching experience is preferred. The Watson School is dedicated to the goal of building a diverse and inclusive teaching, research, and working environment. Potential applicants who share this goal, especially underrepresented minorities, women and persons with disabilities, are strongly encouraged to apply.

The SSIE Department secures over 2.5 million dollars in research funding per year. Our faculty members work collaboratively with over 25 sponsors from industry and federal agencies. The department currently has 18 faculty members and offers a BS degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISE), MEng degrees in IE and SE, and MS and PhD Degrees in both Systems Science and in Industrial and Systems Engineering (or ISE). SSIE also offers a cutting edge executive master of science in health systems engineering program in Manhattan. With about 235 undergraduate, 232 masters and 102 doctoral students, the department is growing in numbers and in its reputation. More details about the department are available at http://www.binghamton.edu/ssie/.

Review of applications begins January 25, 2016, and continues until each position is filled.
