The College of Engineering & Applied Science (CEAS) at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and the Center for Imaging Research (CIR) at the Medical College of Wisconsin are seeking an exceptional senior candidate with expertise in biomedical imaging in the high field MRI and its applications to expand our research portfolio and curricular offerings. The successful candidate is expected to develop a strong independent research program within an interactive and collaborative environment of research and clinical investigators. This unique position will allow the successful candidate to have research labs both within CEAS at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and CIR at the Medical College of Wisconsin. The teaching assignments are expected to be within CEAS at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

UWM is a doctoral/research extensive university and Wisconsin’s premier public urban institution, offering a comprehensive liberal arts, sciences and professional education at the undergraduate and graduate level to its almost 30,000 students. The College of Engineering & Applied Science consists of five departments--Civil Engineering and Mechanics, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, Materials, and Mechanical Engineering, with ABET accredited programs. The College has more than 1,500 undergraduate students and over 300 graduate students, both Master’s and Doctoral. External grants and contracts for the College have increased exponentially over the previous years to approximately $18M in 2009-2010, a trend that is expected to continue. Greater Milwaukee, the third-ranked manufacturing center in the United States, is home to 400+ engineering firms and 1300+ manufacturing firms with annual receipts of 24 billion dollars. The Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) is a private, freestanding medical school dedicated to leadership and excellence in advancing the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of disease and injury. More details about MCW can be found at http://www.mcw.edu/ The Center for Imaging Research (CIR) has the mission of uniting basic and clinical scientists of various disciplines to further the development and application of multimodal imaging approaches in health and disease. The CIR has state-of-the-art imaging facilities including two research-dedicated GE 3T whole body scanners, a Bruker 9.4 T/30cm MRI scanner, a MEG scanner and a micro SPECT/CT. The acquisition of a 7T human MRI scanner is underway.

Applicants with well established research programs are strongly encouraged to apply. Candidates must have an M.D. or a doctoral degree in an appropriate field of computer science, engineering or a related science field, with 5-plus years of academic and/or relevant industrial experience. Candidates must demonstrate a strong track record of scientific publication and extramural funding. Opportunities for collaboration include local industries such as GE Medical Systems, Phillips, Aurora Health Care and many others.
