Faculty Positions in Mechanical Engineering (all ranks) The UNIVERSITY OF DELAWARE

The Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Delaware (UD) invites nominations and applications for tenure-track or tenured faculty positions. Highly qualified candidates will be considered at the level of assistant, associate or full professor.

We are interested in candidates in any discipline of Mechanical Engineering but have particular interest in candidates aligned with UD's college wide cluster searches in the College of Engineering in: (1) biomedical engineering, (2) composites, (3) energy, (4) computer and information technology, and (5) national security.

Our Center for Composite Materials, which boasts $9M of research funding per year, provides a forum for materials, manufacturing and nanotechnology research. Biomedical engineering activities are closely coupled to our Center for Biomedical Engineering Research, supported by many NIH grants, including an $11M NIH Center for Biomedical Research Excellence award. The inter-disciplinary effort at the Delaware Biotechnology Institute, a $120M initiative housed in a state-of-the-art 72,000 sq ft biotechnology facility, encompasses research, education, and economic development in human health, complex environmental systems and biomaterials. Our Center for Fuel Cell Research, sponsored by Department of Energy, Federal Transit Administration, the State of Delaware, and industry, leads research efforts in sustainable energy. Our research program on Robotics and Controls is well established and is supported primarily by federal grants through NSF, NIH, NIST, ARO, ARL, and AFOSR and is part of a
university-wide strategic initiative in support of homeland security.

High-performance computing for environmental and biomedical flows is supported by multiple NSF, NCAR, USDA, and NIH grants and is part of a university-wide computational science and engineering program. More information about the department can be found on www.me.udel.edu.
