The Department of Mechanical and Nuclear Engineering at The Pennsylvania State University is seeking applicants for an Assistant Professor in Mechanical Engineering. Applications are invited from highly-qualified individuals performing research in technical areas that support our multi-disciplinary mechanical engineering curriculum. In particular, we encourage applicants to apply with expertise in thermal sciences.

The Department of Mechanical and Nuclear Engineering is home to 48 faculty, 260 graduate students, and 900 undergraduate students. The faculty conducts in excess of $27M per year of funded research across a broad spectrum of traditional and emerging areas in Mechanical Engineering (see www.mne.psu.edu). Penn State actively encourages and provides resources for interdisciplinary collaboration through university-level initiatives that include the Penn State Institutes of Energy and the Environment (psiee.psu.edu), the Institute for CyberScience (www.research.psu.edu/ics), and the Materials Research Institute (www.mri.psu.edu), among others.

Qualifications for this position include a doctorate in mechanical engineering or a related field. The successful candidate will be expected to teach effectively at the undergraduate and graduate levels, to develop an internationally-recognized externally-funded research program, and to contribute to the operation and promotion of the department, college, university, and profession through service.
