Tenure- track Assistant or Associate Professor –Engineering Fundamentals Department
The Engineering Fundamentals Department (formally Freshman Engineering) at the College of
Engineering of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University at Daytona Beach, Florida is seeking to
fill a tenure-track position at the assistant/associate professor level. The Department seeks to
expand its expertise in engineering education and pedagogy and its leadership in teaching within
the College of Engineering.
We seek candidates who will be active in the College, collaborate across all the disciplines
within engineering and the University, and be active in the scholarship of engineering education.
The faculty candidate will be joining a diverse and collegial faculty in Engineering
Fundamentals Department who teach innovative, modern courses for fundamental engineering
students, as well as conduct research and expand the boundaries of the emerging field of
engineering education. The College of Engineering has over 1700 undergraduate students in six
ABET accredited engineering degrees. More details on the College of Engineering and the

Candidates must hold an earned doctorate in engineering or engineering education with an
undergraduate degree in any engineering discipline; strongly preferred are candidates with a
doctorate in engineering education and a BS/MS degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical
Engineering, or Civil Engineering. Candidates must be capable of teaching the engineering
graphics course with a focus in freehand sketching, computer aided design, engineering, and
manufacturing (using 3D parametric modeling software). They must have demonstrated
educational research experience evidenced by peer-reviewed publications and excellent
communication skills. The incumbents will teach fundamental engineering courses, develop and
conduct externally funded research, advise and work with undergraduate engineering students.
Preference will be given to those who have teaching experience in the engineering courses
including Engineering Graphics, Statics, and Dynamics, and those with a proven record in
obtaining educational research funding.
