Director
of Engineering and Associate Professor
Philadelphia University seeks a dynamic,
collaborative leader and engineering educator with the credentials to join our
faculty at the rank of Associate Professor of Engineering.
The
successful candidate will lead the Engineering program, comprised of an
ABET-accredited BSE in Engineering; an ABET-accredited BSE in Mechanical
Engineering; an MS in Textile Engineering; and a PhD in Textile Engineering and
Sciences. The Director and faculty must grow and sustain enrollments at
the undergraduate and graduate levels through recruitment and retention
strategies. The Director will seek out and develop curricular and project
collaborations with the University’s design and business degree programs and
with other domestic and international partners. The Director must develop
and maintain industry connections for the benefit of the students’ curricular
and co-curricular experiences. A faculty member with a history of
successful sponsored research, such that he/she could both seek out and mentor
other faculty in developing an externally funded research program is very
desirable. The Director must be able to teach in multiple areas of the
curriculum and continue his/her research interests; research opportunities that
engage undergraduate and graduate students are desirable.
MINIMUM
QUALIFICATIONS:
The
candidate must possess a research doctorate or foreign equivalent to a U.S.
doctoral degree in engineering or a closely related discipline. The
candidate’s research and scholarly accomplishments must qualify the person for
appointment to the rank of Associate Professor with tenure. The candidate
must demonstrate a successful track record at the university-level of one or
more years as a teacher, administrator and scholar. Candidate must have
sound organizational skills, be a strong communicator, a team player and
relationship builder. An aptitude for professional and pedagogical
engagement in a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment is a must.
