DEPARTMENT OF INDUSTRIAL ENGINEERING –
LAMAR UNIVERSITY
Lamar
University, a public, Carnegie Doctoral Research University, is seeking two
outstanding scholars to join the faculty at the Assistant Professor level in the
Department of Industrial Engineering beginning fall 2014.
Lamar
University (LU), a member of the Texas State University System, has experienced
tremendous growth over the past decade, with enrollment steadily increasing to
more than 15,000. LU has been recognized nationally for its general education
core curriculum, leadership in online education, selection as a member of the
Honor Roll of the Chronicle of Higher Education’s “Great Colleges to
Work For”, and was ranked 11th in the US for return on investment
for engineering majors by PayScale, Inc.
We are
seeking nominees or applications for two tenure-track faculty positions at the
Assistant Professor level. The successful candidate will have a PhD degree in a
relevant field of engineering and will have demonstrated the ability to work at
the leading edge of his/her research area.
The
Department has research programs in Human Factors and Ergonomics, Safety,
Engineering Education, Logistics, Design and Manufacturing, Micro-manufacturing
and Big Data. The Center for Transportation/Ports and Waterways is housed in
the Department. The Department participants in the Gulf Coast Hazardous
Substance Research Center and the Texas Air Research Center. The Department is
expecting to announce a new Center in 2014; The Mariner Safety Center. The
Department offers an ABET accredited undergraduate industrial engineering
program as well as masters and doctoral programs.
Candidates
should have proven teaching capabilities (including online, flipped, etc.),
excellent communication skills, ability to work effectively in teams, the
ability to develop industrial relations, and a promising research agenda.
Required qualifications include: research and teaching interests in areas of
Human Factors, Ergonomics, Safety, Big Data, or Engineering Management.
Outstanding candidates in other areas will also be considered. Preferred
qualifications include: prior significant research endeavors, teaching, and
industrial experience, in particular experience in the energy or maritime industries.
The
successful candidates will be required to teach graduate and undergraduate
courses in the Department, supervise masters and doctoral students, participate
on multi-investigator research programs, and contribute to the Department’s
service mission.
