Assistant or Associate Professor in Biophysics   --   The University of
Wisconsin-Milwaukee

The Department of Physics at the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee (UWM) seeks outstanding candidates for the position of Assistant Professor (tenure track), or Associate Professor (tenured) in theoretical biophysics, starting August 2014.  The successful candidate is expected to establish an active research program, engage in teaching and service commensurate with faculty rank, and to collaborate closely with a new NSF Science and Technology Center entitled "Biology with X-ray Lasers."  The Center is focused on the structure and dynamics of biological soft matter. In addition to start-up support, UWM provides substantial funding opportunities through the Research Growth Initiative.

Candidates must have a Ph.D. in physics or a closely related field with postdoctoral experience. A demonstrated track record of innovation and excellence in developing advanced methods for analysis of X-ray scattering or cryogenic electron microscopy data is required.  Experience with both data types, and familiarity with cluster computing would be advantageous.

Candidates seeking consideration must apply at <http://jobs.uwm.edu/postings/16149> http://jobs.uwm.edu/postings/16149 and submit application materials electronically to include: resume, research and teaching statements, publications and patent lists. They must also arrange for three confidential letters of reference to be sent directly to the chair of the search committee (email below).  Review of applications will begin April 1, 2014 and continue until the position is filled.  Applications received after April 30, 2014 might not be considered. As an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer, the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee promotes excellence through diversity and encourages all qualified individuals to apply.
