DEPARTMENT: School of Engineering
POSITION: Duthie Endowed Chair of Engineering Logistics
LINK: www.louisville.edu/org/lod
NOTES:
The J. B. Speed School of Engineering at the University of
Louisville invites applications and nominations to fill the Duthie Endowed
Chair of Engineering Logistics. This position was endowed by a generous gift
from Mary Lee and George Duthie.
The Duthie Professor must have an established international
reputation in engineering logistics as demonstrated by a strong record of
extramurally funded and published research. He or she will hold a
senior faculty position within the Department of Industrial Engineering and
will be expected to contribute to the overall departmental mission in teaching,
research, service, and mentoring. In addition, the occupant of the chair
will be expected to interact with government, business and industry through
grants and contracts, consultations, seminars, lectures and short courses
related to engineering logistics.
Preference will be given to individuals who hold a terminal
degree in industrial engineering, or a closely related discipline, as well as
to individuals who have teaching experience in a school of engineering.
As part of its strategic plan, the University has selected
the area of logistics and distribution as one of the targeted areas for
excellence in research. This resulted in the formation of the Logistics
and Distribution Institute (www.louisville.edu/org/lodi)
in 1998, as well as the recruitment and hiring of several endowed chairs, in
addition to the Duthie Chair, in logistics and distribution. Accordingly, it is
anticipated that the
successful candidate for the Duthie Chair will assume a leadership role
in the Logistics and Distribution Institute. Further, the successful candidate will be
well positioned to influence the ongoing development of the new Belknap
Engineering and Applied Sciences Park, adjacent to the Speed School of
Engineering.
The position may be filled as early as the end of the Spring
semester, with an anticipated starting date of Fall semester 2014. Review of
applicants will begin immediately and continue until April 15, 2014.
The University of Louisville requires that all applicants
for faculty or administrative positions use the online Consensus®
Search Support System which may be accessed at: https://highereddecisions.com/uofl/current_vacancies.asp.
The University of Louisville is an equal
opportunity/affirmative action employer and welcomes applications from qualified
minority candidates.
