Professor and Chair, Division of Applied Science and Technology College of Information Technology and Engineering Marshall University, Huntington, WV

Type:
Tenure track position. Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Qualifications:
Ph.D. in one of the core fields of Industrial engineering, safety engineering, or safety as related to the mission of the Division of Applied Science & Technology. A record of scholarly achievement in industrial engineering, safety engineering or safety should be submitted to support a tenure-track position at the Professor rank. The successful candidate should be a nationally/internationally recognized leader in his/her field. Strong evidence of dynamic visionary leadership and administrative capabilities is required. Expertise and the ability to manage and lead the ABET accreditation process are desired. The successful candidate should have a clear vision regarding industrial engineering and occupational safety undergraduate and graduate education, strong communication skills, and experience with collaborative projects and consensus building. The candidate should have a successful track record of, and a commitment to, excellence in teaching, research and scholarly activities. A successful record of teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in the fields of industrial engineering, safety engineering, or safety is required. Excellent research experience, support by demonstrated track-record of externally funded research, in an area that complements existing activities of the Division is required. Possession of a Professional Engineer (PD), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) license is advantageous.

Duties:
In addition to teaching industrial engineering and safety courses, the successful applicant will report to the Dean of CITE and will contribute to the following: compliance with ABET accreditation criteria, management of continuous improvement process and leadership of all accreditation-related activities; development of new curricula and programs of study; continued expansion of the Division; interaction with constituency groups including regional employers and Advisory Boards; continuation of an active internship program; development of a Co-operative education program; leadership of the Division's recruitment and retention activities; participation in fundraising activities; and all other related administrative duties as required by the Dean of CITE. The successful candidate will support the University's general education curriculum, with its emphasis on a common First-Year Seminar and core curriculum courses that enhance student's critical thinking skills and the College's support of interdisciplinary programs of study.
