The Department of
Civil Engineering at Montana State
University invites applications for a faculty position in ENVIRONMENTAL
ENGINEERING at the assistant or associate professor level with a start date of
August 15, 2014. Required qualifications: PhD in Civil and/or
Environmental Engineering or closely related field; evidence of excellent
communication skills; ability to contribute to the undergraduate and graduate
teaching missions of the department; ability to develop an externally funded
research program including evidence of scholarly achievements; and, for
appointment at the Associate level, demonstrated prior performance commensurate
with the rank of associate professor. Preferred qualifications: Academic
and/or professional experience; ability to become registered as a Professional
Engineer within five years from date of employment; research experience in
environmental engineering topics that include microbial and chemical processes
in water supply and wastewater systems, sustainable energy, environmental
biotechnology, or other emerging environmental issues; experience with or
demonstrated ability to assume a leadership role in environmental engineering
undergraduate and graduate program development; and ability to work with and
engage diverse students and colleagues within and outside the department.
CE offers BS and MS degrees in Civil Engineering and an MS
degree in Environmental Engineering. Approximately 640 students are
enrolled in these programs supported by over 20 full time faculty. The College of Engineering offers an
Engineering PhD degree with an Environmental Engineering option. Research
opportunities are enhanced by ties with the Center for Biofilm Engineering.
MSU is located in Bozeman, Montana, an extended community of
about 70,000 nestled in the Rocky Mountains in Southwest Montana. Bozeman is
renowned for year-round recreational and cultural opportunities that include
access to world class ski areas, multiple blue ribbon trout streams and the
Gallatin National Forest. The local airport is served by seven national
airlines with over twenty flights a day to nine cities.
