DEPARTMENT INFORMATION:

The College of EMS serves 3,300 undergraduate students on-campus, 325 graduate students in the online Master of Engineering program, and 250 undergraduates in the Collaborative Engineering Program. The Collaborative Engineering Program offers two engineering degrees at thirteen sites around the state. The College has also partnered with two other universities to offer a unique international Master of Computer Science program. The College has 167 employees, including 139 faculty and instructional staff members in the following academic departments:

The anticipated start date is September 2015.
           
For the TS position, we seek candidates with expertise in one of the following areas:  embedded computing systems, cyber-security, big data, or an interdisciplinary area of circuit design and/or modeling that bridges novel nano-scale devices with logic/memory or analog ICs.  The candidate should be able to apply her/his technical discipline to Swanson School priorities of Manufacturing, or Energy, or Nanotechnology, or Biotechnology. Successful candidates must have the ability to establish a high impact research program and must be committed to high quality teaching for a diverse student body at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. 

For the NTS position, we seek a person whose primary responsibility will be teaching.  This faculty member will ideally teach courses in both the electrical and computer engineering undergraduate programs.  A person with a strong laboratory/electronics background is sought such that this person will be able to “spearhead” the future development and teaching in our numerous laboratory courses in circuits and measurements, electronics, digital systems, signal processing, embedded systems, or software engineering. 

ECE currently has 25 full time faculty members with approximately 400 undergraduate and 170 graduate students. The department offers BS, MS, and PhD degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering (latter in partnership with Computer Science Dept.). ECE is strongly committed to a diverse academic environment and places high priority on attracting female and minority candidates.

The Dean reports to the Provost/Executive Vice President and has curricular, budgetary, and

The Physics Department at the University of Dayton is seeking applications for a tenure track position at the assistant professor rank to begin August 16, 2015. 

A Ph.D. in physics or optical sciences is required.  Applicants must be experimentalists in the area of electro-optics with a physics emphasis, and must be able to establish an independent research program.  Applicants must be able to teach all levels of undergraduate physics courses, able to teach graduate electro-optics courses, and must be committed to quality teaching of graduate electro-optics students and undergraduates in a liberal arts environment.  

Demonstrated successful experience teaching students from diverse backgrounds, and an appreciation for the UD mission to educate the whole person are preferred.  Duties include teaching all levels of undergraduate physics courses, teaching graduate electro-optics courses, and contributing to electro-optics research activities in the physics department.

Applicants must be able to articulate how undergraduate students could be engaged in her/his research program.  Applicants must have the ability to teach undergraduate physics courses at all levels from introductory to advanced, and must be committed to quality teaching to science and non-science students in a liberal arts environment.

The Department of Civil, Environmental and Geodetic Engineering (CEGE) and the City and Regional Planning (CRP) Section of the Knowlton School of Architecture (KSA) at The Ohio State University invite applicants for a full-time, tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor rank in smart urban systems. The position will be filled jointly between the Department of CEGE and the KSA CRP Section, both in the College of Engineering. The majority of the affiliation and the tenure initiating unit will be in the Department of CEGE.

The position is focused on urban infrastructure systems, and in particular on the use of automated sensing, big data, and computational technologies to facilitate an improved evolution of infrastructure systems in the built urban environment while accounting for the complex physical and behavioral interactions they embody. Applications could be geared towards planning, design, monitoring, management, or operations with a focus on mobility and accessibility, public health, safety, or energy efficiency. This position is partially funded by The Ohio State University's Discovery Themes Initiative, a significant faculty hiring investment in key thematic areas in which the university can build on its culture of academic collaboration to make a global impact.

The successful candidate is expected to develop an active research program, effectively teach undergraduate and graduate courses of interest to both the Department of CEGE and the KSA CRP Section, supervise and mentor graduate students and underrepresented groups, and be involved in service within the university and in appropriate professional communities. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to interact and collaborate with members of multi-disciplinary centers and initiatives at The Ohio State University, including the Center for Automotive Research, the Center for Urban and Regional Analysis, the Center for Resilience, the Office of Energy and Environment, the Center for Sustainability, and the campus-wide interdisciplinary initiative expanding faculty expertise in data analytics. An earned doctoral degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering, city and regional planning, or a closely related field is required prior to the anticipated start date of August 2015.

The Department of Chemical & Biomedical Engineering invites applications and nominations for Assistant, Associate or Full Professor tenure-track faculty positions (open rank search) in the areas of biomedical engineering and sustainable energy starting August 2015.  Research areas synergistic to our current faculty interests are preferred, which include neuroscience and engineering, photonics, biosensors, solar energy and energy conversion catalysis.  The new faculty members must have an earned Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering or a related field.  Applications from women and minority candidates are strongly encouraged.
