Qualifications:
Doctoral degree (Ph.D. preferred) in a field represented by one of the academic units of the college; a demonstrated record of effective leadership in an academic environment, with an ability to manage a diverse group of programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels; excellent interpersonal and communication skills to enlist the talents, energy, and enthusiasm of the faculty, students, and the community; a demonstrated and distinguished record of competitive research, scholarship, and professional achievement with respect to involvement in the business, professional, and governmental sectors that will aid in the advancement of College and Institutional strategic goals; demonstrated experience with a wide variety of community and professional groups that will translate into actions that further the common goals of economic development and education; a substantial record of research and classroom experience teaching undergraduates and graduate students, and other professionals. Preferred: Substantial managerial or administrative experience at the department chair/division head level in academics, industry, or government; evidence of a strong commitment to and willingness to play a leadership role in the development of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) education at the local, state, and national levels; academic/industrial experience and expertise in more than one field of interest to the College; evidence of significant contributions to economic development activities; a demonstrated record of successful fund raising activities, including both private and public sectors; leadership experience in and a commitment to a shared-governance environment.

Duties:
The Dean of the College of Information Technology and Engineering reports to and works closely with the Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost. The Dean is responsible for the administration of all academic programs and budgets within the College of Information Technology and Engineering. Duties include, but are not limited to: administration and oversight to all academic programs, management of all budgets, and personnel matters within the College, whose 22 faculty (18 at the Huntington campus and 4 faculty at the South Charleston campus) currently serve approximately 400 undergraduate students and 200 graduate students; working closely with faculty, staff, and students to ensure programs of outstanding educational quality, and excellence and integrity in research; oversight and leadership of the daily operations of the College, including the development and implementation f a College strategic plan with resource priorities, the development and implementation of a variety of retention initiatives in line with university retention and student success initiatives, including a new core general education curriculum, related to curriculum, instruction, research, and academic achievements; participation in fund raising and development activities, in conjunction with college's advisory board and the university's Office of Development.
