The Electrical & Systems Engineering Department is pleased to announce a full time faculty opening for Assistant/Associate/Full Professor
The Department of Electrical & Systems Engineering invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the assistant professor level for the fall 2012 academic year. Exceptional candidates at the associate and full professor levels will also be considered. Candidates should be exceptionally strong, possess novel and creative visions of research, and commit gladly to teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Candidates should have an earned doctorate in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or related fields. Technical areas of interest include, but are not limited to, systems and control, computational mathematics, optimization, stochastic processes, applied statistics, signal processing and imaging. Applications include biology, energy, the environment, robotics, network sciences and modeling of physical and complex systems. In addition to teaching, successful candidates are expected to conduct research, publish in peer-reviewed journals, and participate in department and University service.

Washington University in St. Louis is a medium-sized private university of approximately 6000 undergraduate and 6000 graduate and professional students, which enjoys high academic standing and a strong and growing national reputation. In U.S. News & World Report's undergraduate category, Washington University is ranked 14th among national universities,and its medical school is ranked 4th. The ESE department presently has 12 full-time tenured and tenure-track and four senior faculty members. There are approximately 180 undergraduate students, and 80 graduate students. The department offers undergraduate and graduate degrees separately in Electrical Engineering and in Systems Science and Mathematics.
