NOTES:
The Department of Systems Engineering and Operations Research (SEOR) invites applications for the following full-time faculty positions.
Tenure Track Positions (Position Number F9566z)
Tenure-track Assistant Professor position in the area of operations research. We are especially interested in candidates with research interests in emerging applications (such as health-care, energy, and sustainability) or methodologies (such as stochastic or global optimization).
Tenure-track Associate/Assistant Professor position in the area of systems engineering. We are especially interested in candidates with research interests in systems architecting, systems design, model-based systems engineering, assessment and integration. Individuals with research experience in design and analysis of complex systems are particularly desired.
Candidates for these positions must have an earned PhD in a related field of study and an excellent record of teaching and research. The successful candidates will be expected to teach in the department’s undergraduate and graduate programs, and to develop a strong, leading-edge research program that includes scholarly publication, research funding and doctoral student supervision. Candidates with the ability to establish research programs with federal sponsors and industry are particularly desired.
Term Position (Position Number F9567z)
Term (non tenure-track) faculty position in systems engineering. The position is expected to be filled at the rank of assistant professor, beginning in fall 2012, although higher ranks may be considered for outstanding candidates. Candidates should have a Ph.D. in systems engineering or a closely related engineering field. Excellent communication skills and high potential as a teacher are expected. Industry experience is highly valued. This position will focus on teaching excellence in systems engineering at the graduate and undergraduate levels. A commitment to mentoring students, and an interest in department administration and outreach are required. The position also offers opportunity to develop a research program taking advantage of Mason’s strategic proximity to federal, state and local agencies, as well as its enviable connections with private industry, and proximity to world class research institutes.
