The University of Exeter is offering a unique opportunity for high calibre environmental researchers to join in the foundation of a world-leading, interdisciplinary research centre working towards solutions to the challenges of environmental change.
Building on the academic strength of the University of Exeter, the new £30M Environment and Sustainability Institute (ESI) will undertake cutting-edge research in three major themes: Clean technologies, Natural environment and Social sciences. The ESI will open in 2012 under the direction of renowned ecologist Professor Kevin Gaston. The initiative is located on Exeter's Cornwall campus, adjacent to the outstanding Centre for Ecology and Conservation and is funded with a £22.9M investment from the European Regional Development Fund and £6.6M from the South West of England Regional Development Agency.

Your calibre, track-record and future potential are more important than your academic field, and we are interested in building a team who can work together across disciplines to solve the environmental challenges of the day.
We will establish research on major themes of environment and sustainability, including, but not limited to: resolving human-wildlife conflicts, maintaining ecosystem services, conserving biodiversity, managing invasive species and controlling diseases. You will be working at the cutting edge of your academic field, which could be anywhere from aquatic ecology to conservation biology or from mathematical biology to plant ecology.
Applicants are encouraged to contact Professor Kevin Gaston email: k.j.gaston@exeter.ac.uk to discuss the post further.
