INSTITUTION: The University of Texas at Arlington DEPARTMENT: Industrial & Manufacturing Systems Engineering POSITION: Department Chair NOTES: Search Code: ENG121611IMSE The College of Engineering at The University of Texas at Arlington seeks nominations and applications for the Industrial & Manufacturing Systems Engineering Department Chair position. Candidates should possess excellent leadership and interpersonal skills and have a strong record of scholarship and teaching commensurate with appointment as Professor. A Ph.D. degree in Industrial Engineering or a closely related area is required. The Chair will provide vision and leadership in enhancing the department’s teaching programs, facilitating industrial engineering collaborations across the university and with local industry, and achieving world-class research excellence. The College of Engineering has a talented and collaborative faculty that seeks Tier 1 status in the near term. The University of Texas at Arlington is a doctoral, research-extensive university and part of the University of Texas System with approximately 34,500 students. The Department consists of a collegial faculty of 12 members and about 300 students (http://www.uta.edu/ie/). The Department offers B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in Industrial Engineering, an M.S. in Engineering Management, an M.S. in Logistics, and an M.S. in Systems Engineering. Current faculty research involves manufacturing, operations research, systems engineering, human factors, and numerous application areas. The Department houses the Center on Stochastic Modeling, Optimization, & Statistics, the Systems Engineering Research Center, the RFID and Auto Identification Lab, and the Micro Fabrication Lab. In addition, collaborations are encouraged with UT Arlington’s Texas Manufacturing Assistance Center, Automation & Robotics Research Institute, and Arlington Technology Incubator. The University is located in the center of the Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington Metroplex, a major industrial center with opportunity for interaction in the aerospace, manufacturing, telecommunications, electronics, logistics, transportation, energy, and health care industries, plus numerous other areas.
