Position Title: Microbiologist, tenure track
Faculty or Department: Biological Sciences

The Department of Biological Sciences invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant
Professor position beginning Fall 2013. Ph.D. or equivalent in Microbiology required.
Those with a research background in Bacteriology, Mycology, or Parasitology are
especially encouraged to apply. Post-doctoral research and teaching experience are
desirable. Candidates should be strongly committed to teaching at the undergraduate
level and to actively engaging undergraduate students in laboratory research. Teaching
responsibilities will include general microbiology, microbiology for health professionals,
general biology, and upper division courses in the applicant’s area of expertise.
Candidates should have an interest in developing outreach programs for the public (K-12
and adult learners). This position will also be eligible to become the Ashland Inc.
Distinguished Professor in Integrative Sciences, which includes ¼ reassigned time from
teaching each semester for four years (with potential for renewal) and possible annual
funding for research.
