The Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISE) at Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, invites applications for the position of Department Chair.  We seek a dynamic, innovative, and collaborative leader with a bold vision for the future of Industrial and Systems Engineering.

Candidates are expected to have an earned doctorate in Industrial Engineering or a closely related discipline.  We seek a chair with an international reputation for leadership in research and educational innovation,

The successful candidate will have an exemplary record of achievement at a level commensurate with appointment as a tenured Full Professor. Preferred qualifications include demonstrated accomplishments in academic leadership, interdisciplinary research and education, diversity, and administration.

The ISE Department is comprised of 12 faculty members, and 150 BS, 40 MS, and 40 PhD students. The department has a reputation for excellence with particular strengths in quality and reliability engineering, production and manufacturing, data mining, biomechanics, transportation, and security. 

The School of Engineering (SOE) is located on Rutgers Busch Campus, in Piscataway. It has an enrollment of over 3,300 undergraduates and 800 graduate students. The SOE has over 140 fulltime faculty members across seven academic engineering departments: Biomedical, Chemical and Biochemical, Civil and Environmental, Electrical and Computer, Industrial and Systems, Materials Science and Engineering, and Mechanical and Aerospace. The Chair reports to the Dean of the School of Engineering and is responsible for the administration of all programs and budgets in the Department.

The School of Engineering is anticipating significant growth in strategically important areas including advanced manufacturing systems , energy systems, computing, transportation and biomedical and health sciences. An exciting recent development at Rutgers is the acquisition of the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, which will provide significant opportunities for collaboration in health sciences.
