The Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer
Science (EECS) at The University of Tennessee, Knoxville (UTK) is searching for
a candidate for a tenure-track junior-level faculty position in the area of
power electronics. Successful candidates will be expected to teach at
both the undergraduate and graduate levels, to establish a vigorous funded
research program, and to have a willingness to collaborate with other faculty
in research. The Department currently enrolls more than 500
undergraduate and 220 graduate students including more than 60 graduate
students in the power area. Faculty research expenditures exceed $12 M per
year.
UTK has one of the largest power programs in the U.S. and is
the lead institution in a NSF/DOE Engineering Research Center, the Center for
Ultra-wide-area Resilient Electric Energy Transmission Networks (CURENT).
Also, the department is in the midst of a growth phase thanks to a combined $50
M in gifts from alumnus Dr. Min Kao, gifts from other donors, and matching
state funding. EECS is housed in a new $37.5 million teaching and research
facility completed in 2012. The University of Tennessee and Battelle
manage the nearby Oak Ridge National Laboratory, which provides further

Applicants should have an earned doctorate degree in
electrical engineering or equivalent. Previous industrial and/or academic
experience is desirable. Applicants should have outstanding potential for
establishing an independent research and teaching program in their field and
will be expected to collaborate with faculty in CURENT. The Knoxville
campus of the University of Tennessee is seeking candidates who have the
