*THE CHEMISTRY DEPARTMENT AT UW-WHITEWATER-TENURE TRACK FACULTY POSITION OPENING IN FALL 2013*

*Position:*            Faculty. Rank of Assistant Professor. Tenure Track Appointment.

*Starting Date:*            August, 2013

*Qualifications:*      Ph.D. in inorganic chemistry/materials/nanochemistry is required. Post-doctoral experience is preferred but not essential. Successful candidates will demonstrate strong commitment to undergraduate teaching and evidence of scholarly activity including peer-reviewed publications, potential to establish active research with undergraduate students.

*Salary:*  Competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.

*Responsibilities:*  The position will primarily involve teaching and revision of our current inorganic chemistry and general chemistry lecture and lab courses and develop courses in materials, nanochemistry and polymer chemistry.  It is expected that the candidate will coordinate with members of the chemistry department and other science faculty in physics and biology to develop interdisciplinary courses and tracks in nanochemistry and materials.  In addition, an active research program involving students and pursuit of extramural funding to support research are expected.  Additi= onal responsibilities include advising chemistry majors and participation in the department=92s outreach activities.  Demonstrated experience in working wit= h a diverse faculty, staff and student environment and commitment to do so as a faculty member at UWW are required.

*University:*  UW-Whitewater, with an enrollment of approximately 12,110 students, is one of thirteen four-year campuses in the UW System.  The ACS accredited Department of Chemistry has six tenured faculty, three tenure-track faculty, three academic staff, a full-time stockroom manager/chemical hygiene officer and a departmental secretary.

*Community:*  Whitewater, a city population of approximately 14,000, is located in southeastern Wisconsin near the scenic Kettle Moraine State Forest, 50 miles from Milwaukee, 45 miles from Madison, and 110 miles from Chicago.
