The Department of Industrial Engineering at the University of Pittsburgh anticipates openings for tenure-track faculty positions. We are seeking outstanding candidates in any area of Industrial Engineering or related fields.

Candidates should possess or be near completion of a PhD in Industrial Engineering or a closely related field, have a strong methodological background, and have an interest in advancing cutting-edge, interdisciplinary research. For junior candidates, our primary search criterion is research potential. Senior candidates must have established an outstanding research record commensurate with rank.

The Department offers a progressive undergraduate program with about 200 students, a vibrant professional master’s program, and a rigorous doctoral program with approximately 40 PhD students. About half of our PhD graduates assume positions in academia upon completion. The Department offers excellent laboratory facilities and contacts with regional and national corporations and healthcare systems.

The University of Akron invites applications for two talented and dynamic tenure-track Assistant Professors who can establish and execute a vibrant agenda for strategic research and education in the Department of Biomedical Engineering beginning Fall 2013. Candidates should have earned a doctoral degree in Biomedical Engineering, or a closely related discipline with biomedical engineering emphasis; post-doctoral training is preferred. Successful candidates are expected to advance priority research areas identified below.  The priority areas in the department for these two positions are biomechanics and biomedical sensors/ bioinstrumentation. The College of Engineering, Architecture and Technology at Oklahoma State University (OSU) seeks nominations and applications for the position of Professor and Head of the School of Industrial Engineering and Management (IEM). Candidates will also be considered for the Donald and Cathey Humphreys Endowed Chair of Industrial Engineering and Management. The School of IEM has 12 tenure or tenure-track faculty members, with 124 B.S., 81 M.S. and 27 PhD students. Programs include both on-campus and distance components. Active research programs are conducted in healthcare/biomedical informatics, predictive and descriptive analytics, decision support systems, energy management, lean manufacturing, materials management, operations research, production planning, productivity improvement, quality engineering, reliability and life testing, supply chain management, and logistics and systems simulation and optimization.

Nationally funded centers located in IE&M include the U. S. Department of Energy Industrial Assessment Center and the NSF Center for Excellence in Logistics and Distribution (CELDi) site.

Towson University invites applications for the Director of the Environmental Science and Studies Program at the rank of Associate Professor. This is a senior position with leadership and management responsibilities for the undergraduate and graduate programs in the interdisciplinary Environmental Science and Studies Program. The position is a ten-month faculty appointment with a supplemental director’s summer stipend and a reduced teaching load; it begins no later than August 21, 2013, and the base salary is commensurate with experience. As a faculty member, the successful candidate will join an appropriate department and will report to the Department Chair, and as Director, he or she will report to the appropriate Dean.

Responsibilities:
The Director will provide critically important leadership for the existing undergraduate and graduate programs, which involve faculty and resources from five colleges. Building on the program’s strengths in the area of urban environmental issues, the Director will facilitate and enhance collaboration between existing faculty and develop outreach and applied research opportunities in the broader community. The Director, with input and support from the program’s advisory committee, will lead the development of a blueprint for future program directions including issues surrounding sustainability and climate change education. The Director will also further Towson’s mission to address the higher education and workforce needs of the region.

Qualifications:
Applicants should have a terminal degree in a relevant discipline, leadership experience applicable to an academic setting, a record of success working in an interdisciplinary environment, a record of effective teaching and scholarship, and demonstrated experience obtaining external funding and establishing external partnerships. A broad knowledge of environmental science and emerging environmental policy issues as well as the ability to lead collaborative initiatives to seek external funding from public and private entities will be important.
