POSITION: Tenure eligible faculty positions at assistant professor rank

The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Wichita State
University (WSU) is seeking candidates for three tenure-eligible faculty
positions at the assistant professor rank. Areas of interest include design,
thermal/fluid sciences, and materials.
Ph.D. degree in mechanical engineering or a closely-related
discipline (to be awarded before Aug 1, 2013), notable records of journal
publications and scholarly activities, evidence of potential to attract
external funding and conduct research, effective communication skills, evidence
of teaching potential, and disposition to work with diverse populations are
required. Additional expertise in nano/bio technology or energy systems is
preferred. Duties will include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses,
establishing an externally funded research program, publishing in reputable
journals, supervising master and doctoral students, and participating in
university/professional service.
WSU has an attractively landscaped campus with approximately
15,000 students. Wichita metro area has a population of approximately 600,000
and it is known as the "Air Capital of the World" that is home to
major aerospace companies such as Spirit AeroSystems, Bombardier Learjet,
Cessna, Hawker Beechcraft, and Airbus. The successful candidates will have the
opportunity to interact with these companies. The ME Department has nearly 450
undergraduate and 125 graduate (M.S. and Ph.D.) students.
