The Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Systems
Engineering invites applications and nominations for the Carl R. and Mary T.
Ice Industrial Engineering Professorship for Logistics. This distinguished new
position will support the department’s graduate and undergraduate programs and
is intended to expand the department’s capabilities in logistics research and
education.
Candidates for the position must have an earned doctorate in
industrial engineering, operations research, supply chain management, or a
closely related field. The successful candidate will be a recognized
leader in a technical area related to logistics, have demonstrated commitment
to both research and teaching, and offer credentials to support appointment at
the rank of Full Professor. Salary will be commensurate with
qualifications, with additional benefits derived from the professorship
endowment.
The Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Systems
Engineering has a tradition of excellence in research and education. The
department offers an ABET-accredited B.S.I.E.; master’s degrees in Industrial
Engineering, Operations Research, and Engineering Management (including
distance education options); and a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering. The
department has 12 faculty members and has grown to more than 200 undergraduate
students and 130 graduate students. Faculty conducts research in
logistics, operations research, health care systems, human factors, statistical
quality control, and manufacturing. The Ice Professorship coupled with
the Kansas University Engineering Initiative Act represents a unique strategic
opportunity to establish an internationally recognized research and education
center in logistics.
