The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) of the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Environmental Engineering or Water Resources Engineering. Preference for the WRE position is in an area related to groundwater. The position will be filled at the Assistant Professor level, although candidates with exceptional academic and research credentials may be considered at the Associate Professor level. An earned doctorate in Civil or Environmental Engineering or a closely related discipline is required by the August 2013 start date, and evidence of the potential for excellence in teaching and research is required. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate courses, establish a strong externally funded research program, and develop collaborative research within the department and with others at the School of Mines. Preference will be given to candidates who have bachelor’s degrees from ABET accredited engineering programs or equivalent and those who have obtained or will obtain professional licensure in a reasonable period of time. Current CEE faculty expertise includes sustainability, indoor air quality, contaminant fate and transport, life cycle assessment and surface water hydrology; we seek candidates who will complement these foci and extend departmental opportunities for cross-disciplinary research. The department anticipates filling multiple positions for the next academic year.

The CEE Department has a BS degree in civil engineering, minors in environmental engineering and sustainable engineering, and two graduate degrees (MS CE, MS Construction Management), and participates in two interdisciplinary PhD programs.
