NOTES:
The School of Civil Engineering at Purdue University has
identified “Forensics and Rehabilitation of Infrastructure” as a theme for
inter-disciplinary research and education. Two faculty positions are available
in forensic evaluation of structures and their components, development of
effective mitigation and repair strategies, and development of new and more
sustainable materials. Focus is on development of reliable methods for
assessing the condition of structural elements and materials to better
understand the causes and sources of structural deterioration and to develop
methods to reduce the rate of deterioration and rehabilitate near-depleted
infrastructure to extend its service life.
Examples of specific fields of interest include assessment, behavior,
repair, and rehabilitation of structural concrete elements and systems,
physical and chemical analysis of construction materials, computational
modeling of chemical degradation of infrastructure materials, and development
of new or repair materials with a low-carbon footprint. Applicants are not limited to these topics.
The positions are tenure-track at the Assistant professor
level. However, candidates with outstanding credentials will be considered for
Associate or Full professor. We seek outstanding individuals that complement
the strengths of our School, with a strong interest in inter-disciplinary
activities.
Candidates must hold a PhD degree in Civil Engineering or a
closely related discipline, have demonstrated potential for excellence in
research, and be committed to excellence in teaching. Successful candidates
will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses, conduct research
in their field of expertise, and participate in interdisciplinary activities.
Candidates are expected to develop a vibrant externally funded program with
international visibility.
Applications: Salary and benefits are highly competitive.
