ENGINEERING FACULTY OPENINGS
The Lyles School of Civil Engineering at Purdue University invites
applications for a faculty position in Architectural
Engineering . Purdue University seeks to attract exceptional candidates
with interests and expertise in energy materials for
buildings; human factors/human perception related to the built environment;
or indoor air quality. For example, candidates with a research focus on: smart
and adaptive materials for building applications; energy-generating materials
for buildings; thermal or visual perception and indoor environment-human
interactions; experimental indoor air quality studies for buildings (aerosol
dynamics, indoor particulate matter, etc.); or similar topics are encouraged to
apply. Candidates at the Associate/Full Professor level are targeted, but
exceptional candidates at the Assistant Professor rank will receive serious
consideration.
The School
of Civil Engineering at Purdue University has experienced significant
growth in the past decade and has a strong faculty core engaged in all Civil
Engineering areas, as well as significant interdisciplinary efforts across
campus, with other academic institutions, and with industrial partners. The
Architectural Engineering group within Civil Engineering has developed and

aspects of building components, subsystems, systems, and occupants, which are
located at the Bowen Laboratories, the Architectural Engineering Laboratories,
and the Herrick Laboratories. The successful candidate is expected to be part
of the new Center for High Performance Buildings, which is headquartered within
the Herrick Laboratories and supports multi-disciplinary research across Civil,
Mechanical, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Psychological Sciences and
other departments. The Center includes the Perception-Based Engineering Labs
for studying indoor environment-human interactions in a controlled manner and
the reconfigurable Living Labs that allow real-world testing of a wide range of
advanced building technologies and controls. For a description of research
activities within Architectural Engineering see: https://engineering.purdue.edu/CE/Academics/Groups/Architectural
Successful candidates must hold a
Ph.D. degree in Engineering or a related
discipline and should demonstrate excellent ability to build an independent,
externally-funded research program at the forefront of their field, as well as
potential to educate and mentor students. They will conduct original
research, advise graduate students, teach undergraduate courses in Civil
Engineering, develop graduate level courses in their specialty area, and will
perform service both at the School and University levels. Candidates with
